I embrace an interpersonal and humanistic approach to counselling, which means I prioritize the therapeutic relationship and value the clients' expertise on their own lives/lived experience. From a strengths-based perspective I work to support individuals to achieve their own unique goals. I see myself as journeying with individuals as they develop new skills to cope with life demands and distress, and I assist clients to explore their sense of self and their world in new ways. I recognize that individuals are part of a larger network (e.g., partnership, family, community) and I am sensitive to the role different systems may play in a client's life, struggles, and resilience. In addition to expertise in cognitive-behavioural and interpersonal therapy, I bring curiosity, non-judgment, compassion, and a belief in individuals’ capacity for change to my role as a psychologist. I work collaboratively with clients to determine their needs and to develop a counselling plan moving forward to address the primary concern(s). As we work together, we will continue to reflect on the counselling process to ensure we are working toward your goals.
